Verification Statuses

Understanding the two safety levels of email data (Valid and Unknown) and how to protect your bounce rate.

Updated over 2 months ago

The "Traffic Light" System

SendScale does not just "find" emails; it validates them. We ping the recipient's mail server (without actually sending an email) to ask, "Does this user exist?"

The response determines the Verification Status, which you will see next to every email address in your lists and campaigns.

1. Valid (Green Shield)

  • Meaning: The server confirmed the user exists.

  • Safety: Safe to Send.

  • Credit Usage: 1 Credit Deducted.

  • Bounce Rate Expectation: < 1%. These are the gold standard for cold outreach.

2. Invalid (Grey Question Mark)

  • Meaning: The server could not confirm the user exist

  • Safety: DO NOT SEND.

  • Action: Suppress these leads to protect your reputation.

Where to See Statuses

You can view the verification status in two places:

  1. Lead Lists View: In the "Status" column of your grid.

  2. Campaign Leads Tab: Next to the email address.

Managing High Bounce Rates

If you notice a campaign bounce rate creeping above 3%, pause the campaign.

  1. Go to the Leads tab of that campaign.

  2. Filter by "Unknown".

  3. Delete or Exclude these leads.

  4. Resume the campaign sending only to "Valid" (Green) contacts.
