Why OAuth?
Open Authorization (OAuth) is the gold standard for connecting third-party applications to your Google Workspace. Unlike older methods that required you to enable "Less Secure Apps" or generate complex passwords, OAuth relies on a secure token exchange.
Benefits of OAuth connection:
Security: SendScale never sees or stores your actual Google password.
Stability: OAuth tokens rarely expire unless manually revoked, meaning your campaigns won't pause unexpectedly due to authentication errors.
SmartBox Compatibility: This connection type grants the necessary permissions for SendScale to "read" replies in real-time, powering the Unified Inbox (SmartBox) functionality.
Prerequisites
You must be logged into the Google Workspace account you wish to connect on your browser.
You must have "API Access" enabled in your Google Admin console (this is enabled by default for most organizations).
Step-by-Step Connection Guide
1. Initiate the Connection
Navigate to the Accounts tab on the left-hand sidebar. This is your infrastructure command center. Click the purple "+ Add New" button in the top right corner.
You will be presented with two distinct paths. Select the right-hand option: "Connect Your Existing Email."
2. Select Google Provider
Click the "Connect with Google" button. This will trigger a pop-up window from Google's secure login server.
3. Authorize Permissions
Select the specific Google account you wish to connect. You will then see a permissions screen asking to grant SendScale access to:
Send email on your behalf (Required for Campaigns).
Read, compose, and permanently delete all the email from Gmail (Required for SmartBox reply management and Warmup functioning).
Critical Step: You must click "Allow". If you deny any of these specific scopes, the connection will fail because SendScale cannot perform its core functions (like detecting replies to stop a sequence).
4. Verify Connection
Once authorized, the pop-up will close, and you will be redirected back to the SendScale Accounts dashboard. You should see your new account listed with a Green “Auth" checkmark and a pending Health Score.
Troubleshooting Common Errors
Error 400: Admin Policy Enforced If you receive an error stating the app is blocked, your Google Workspace Admin has restricted third-party API access.
Fix: Ask your Workspace Admin to whitelist the "SendScale" App ID in the Google Admin Console under Security > API Controls > Manage Third-Party App Access.
"Reconnect" Status If you change your Google password, the OAuth token is immediately invalidated for security. You will see a Red "Disconnected" status in SendScale. Simply click "Reconnect" and go through the login flow again to issue a new token.
